Glassmeyer is new chairman

Ward Glassmeyer will replace founder and first chairman Richard L. Chilton Jr. as the new board chairman of the Darien Technology & Community Foundation. Replacing Glassmeyer as vice chairman are Jim Steinthal and Jennifer Foster, who will be co-vice chairmen.

Middlesex receives $50,000 tech grant

When Middlesex Middle School opens its doors for the 2007-08 academic year, students will discover a brand new Computer Video Production Studio in Lab 130. The Darien Technology & Community Foundation recently approved a $50,000 grant, which will provide 25 iMac computers, high definition camcorders, digital cameras and related software. Video production skills are now part of the eighth grade computer curriculum and this studio will allow students to learn in a stateof- the-art environment.

Fields score donations

Score two for the proposed turf baseball field.

The Darien Technology Foundation has agreed to donate the two scoreboards for the new baseball and softball fields as part of the ongoing project at the high school. Last week, the Board of Education heard a proposal on the gift from Schools Superintendent Donald Fiftal and Paul Engemann, director of facilities.

Technology foundation awards $500K to library

The Darien Technology Foundation recently awarded its largest grant yet, $500,000, to the Darien Library Capital Campaign. This grant is the largest the foundation has made since its founding in 1998. The money will be spent to replicate the present Darien Technology Foundation Center at the new library as well as to provide computer stations, innovative technology and enhanced alternate work spaces throughout the new building.

Depot Gets Upgrade

The Darien Technology Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant for upgraded computer equipment to the Depot teen center. The grant's goal is the acquisition and installation of state-of-the-art computer equipment for the Depot study "caboose" that enhances the learning environment for high school students.

Grant Helps Police Department Get Its Boat.

The Darien Technology Foundation awarded a $13,000 grant to the Darien Police Boat Fundraiser Inc. this month. At a recent board meeting, the technology foundation voted unanimously to provide money for purchasing the most current navigational and communications equipment for the new Police Department boat.
